Suntrail Special 2022 posterIn order to increase accessibility of the sport, focus on athlete development and reduce costs, ONLY the use of non-fluoro (NF) liquids, gels, buffer waxes and paraffin glide waxes will be permitted. Hardeners and non-fluoro (NF) powders are also NOT permitted. These restrictions apply to ALL categories but do not apply to grip waxes. Let’s make this a fun race for everybody.

As per XCSO guidelines, all coaches, athletes (12+), officials, spectators and volunteers who are eligible to be vaccinated will be required to upload & show Government Provided proof of vaccination to participate.
(Racers 5-11 are strongly recommended to be vaccinated).

  • U16 5.5k
  • U18 – 9k (5.5 then 3.5)
  • U12 – 3.5K
  • U14 – 3.5

Tentative Race Schedule

  • 10:25 am — Courses closed
  • 10:30 am – U16 -5.5 K
  • 10:45 am – U 18 – 9 K
  • 11:15 am – 11:45 am – 3.5 K course opens for pre-ski
  • 11:50 am – U12 start 3.5K
  • 12:15 am – U 14 start 3.5K

Important Notes

  • Paranordic categories are available upon request to race.secretary@bruceskiclub.ca

  • Race registration on www.zone4.ca closes at 11:59pm on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022.

  • Race may be canceled if poor or unsafe trail conditions at Sawmill Nordic Centre or if changes to Public Health restrictions (Covid-19).

    • Decision for race cancellation will be posted on zone4.ca by 6pm on Thursday, February 3rd.
      (Refunds less Zone 4 administrative fee if the race is canceled).

  • No race day registrations.

  • Complete the Covid Screening on race day before coming to the event:

  • No indoor facilities (4 porta-potties on site) and no food services available. Tim Horton’s is 5min by car.

  • No awards ceremony or bib draw (results will be posted on Zone4). Participants should leave the trail as soon as possible in order to reduce gathering numbers.

  • All racers should wear a mask while waiting at the start line. All volunteers and observers should wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be maintained.

  • Distances may vary based on trail conditions.

  • Bib Pickup: 9:30 – 10:00am in front of Groomers’ Shed garage door

  • Team Captains’ Meeting: 10:00 am in front of Groomers’ Shed garage door

  • Start times will be posted on zone4 by 3pm Saturday February 5th.

  • Sawmill Nordic Centre will be available ONLY TO REGISTERED RACERS, SPECTATORS AND OFFICIALS on Sunday February 6th until 1pm. After 1pm Sawmill Nordic Centre will be open to members and the public. Non-members who wish to ski in the afternoon should buy a day pass whttp://bruceskiclub.ca/day-pass-rates/
